Phoot Shoot Plan!

    Photo shoot plan

For my music magazine I will be shooting my friend Patsy Collison, I chose her as I believe she has a look which is quite typical of many of the young pop stars today such as Taylor Swift and is quite popular amongst teens i.e. blonde hair, green eyes.

When planning my shoot I will have to consider many factors including:

    - lighting
wardrobe i.e. costumes, hairstyles, make up, jewellery
    -location
    -camera angles
    -props

As they are vital to how the photos end up and how successful they are.

    Wardrobe

My magazine is focused on pop and chart music, I think my model should wear something modern and in fashion yet appropriate to the target audience this is important as she  is a role model and younger girls look up to her style and potentially look to copy it. She must also look natural and fresh faced which is popular look amongst teens as she is a relatively young girl also a lot of makeup will look harsh on camera and will also age her making her not as relatable. As she does have the same style and look as Taylor Swift, who is popular amongst young teens and is an excellent role model to young girls today, I will try to recreate the look and setting which can be seen in a lot of Taylor’s shoots which is outside in nature, which works well as a background as it isn’t busy and as empathises the natural beauty of t6he model as she will be in nature.  I would like her hair to be down where the wind can create a natural wind swept look making it look more natural but also adds a touch of glamour amongst the nature.

    Location

The location I have chosen will be in a local forest, it has loads of trees and a stream which really captures the nature look i'm going for. I have chosen this area because not only will it be naturally beautiful and will fit with the wardrobe I have chosen and type of photo I am trying to create but it also works as my magazine is all about music and big part of music is the summer festivals which are outside so I think this ties in with my theme as my magazine will be the festival edition. .

    Props

I want to use very few props as I think the pictures will be more effective if left to the natural beauty which is there. However, since it is focused around music I think using some headphones will empathize this further.

    Lighting

my location is outdoors so I will rely mostly on natural lighting. This will make things more difficult as the amount of lighting in one particular shot is out of my control and it may vary from photo to photo reducing consistency but I can always alter the photos on programmes such as Photoshop later.

    Camera Angles

For cover photo I would like it to be low angle mid shot showing the model and her clothing. Her stance should be confident and the use of direct address should not only exaggerate it but it should also help to capture the audience’s attention and almost invite them in to read the magazine.  I would like a full length photo for the double page spread, a longshot showing the model in full and really showing her style through the wardrobe chosen and one midshot possibly to keep in with the typical codes and conventions of a magazine los the model could be laughing in them to make her more relatable to the readers and show that she is like them and a normal girl.
